A variety of Washington State agencies provide grants for boating facilities, education programs, and other activities. Below is a list of some of the grants available.
Pumpout Grant Program (any recreational boat)
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission’s Boating Programs Office offers grants for the construction, renovation, operation, and maintenance of pump-out and dump stations for use by recreational boaters. The program reimburses grant recipients for up to 75 percent of the cost of installing such stations. Grants are available to public and private sector facilities.
Boating Facilities Grant Program (small power boats, 26 feet and smaller)
The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Funding Board
offers grants to fund acquisition, development, and renovation of boating facilities including launching ramps, guest moorage, and support facilities on both freshwater and saltwater. Municipalities, ports, parks, school districts, state agencies, and tribes may apply. Fact Sheet
Boating Infrastructure Grant Program (large power boats, 26 feet and larger)
The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Funding Board
offers grants for guest boating facilities that serve recreational boats 26 feet and larger. Counties, cities, ports, tribes, private marinas with public facilities, and nonprofit organizations may apply. Fact Sheet
Land and Water Conservation Fund (any recreational boat)
The National Park Service, through the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Funding Board, offers grants to buy land and develop outdoor recreation resources, such as parks, trails, wildlife lands, and other facilities. Counties, cities, towns, ports, tribes, and state agencies may apply. Fact Sheet
Aquatic Lands Enhancement Account
The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Funding Board
offers grants to buy, improve, and protect shorelines and other aquatic lands for public purposes, and to provide and improve access to such lands. Priorities of this program include re-establishing naturally self-sustaining functions related to aquatic lands; providing or restoring public access to the water; and increasing public awareness of aquatic lands. Any division of local or state government, as well as tribes are eligible to apply. Fact Sheet
Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (any recreational boat)
The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Funding Board
offers grants for parks, water access sites, trails, and wildlife habitat. Cities, counties, nonprofits, ports, park and school districts, state agencies, and tribes may apply. Fact Sheet
